In law school, Attorney Russell was elected a law review author and editor. While serving on the law review Attorney Russell authored an article entitled The Causation Requirement: Guardian of Fairness or Obstacle to Justice?-- Making Sense of a Decade of DES Litigation, 25 Suffolk U. L. Rev. 1071 (winter 1991). This article was twice cited favorably by the Ohio Supreme Court in Sutowski v. Eli Lilly & Company, 82 Ohio St. 3d 347, 349 (1998), a rare feat for a student-written work.
During his legal studies, Attorney Russell studied one year at the distinguished Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Russell received numerous recognitions for excellence in legal studies, including an invitation to be included in Who's Who Among American Law Students.
In his practice Attorney Russell has represented clients before the state trial courts, the state Appeals Court, the state Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts House of Representatives, the United States Bankruptcy Court, the United States District Court, the United States Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Russell has served as lead appellate counsel in several seminal and noteworthy Massachusetts appellate cases, including Abrams v. Liss, 53 Mass. App. Ct. 751 (2002), Commonwealth v. Zettel, 46 Mass. App. 471 (1999), Haser v. Wright, 65 Mass. App. Ct. 903 (2005), and Wheatley v. Secretary of the Commonwealth, 439 Mass. 839 (2003).
Attorney Russell has authored three scholarly articles in well-respected legal publications.
